Leo DiCaprio won his Oscar (cue the applause). With most important thing out of the way, let’s look at the red carpet fashion winners from the night of nights of the award season. There were 15 dresses that looked either pleasantly different or classically Oscar-worthy.
Of course, some celebs couldn’t stay away from their favorite brands.
Rooney Mara in Givenchy
Rooney Mara wore a white lace Givenchy dress with a high buttoned up neck, a midriff cutout and a front slit. The actress wore her hair in a sleek updo as usual opting for dark lipstick to add a pop of color to her otherwise pristine look.
Tracey Edmonds in Lorena Sarbu
White dresses were surprisingly numerous. Tracey Edmonds wore a pear-encrusted Lorena Sarbu dress with wispy sleeves and a slinky silhouette.
Olivia Wilde in Valentino
Olivia Wilde chose a white pleated Valentino dress from the brand’s haute couture Spring/Summer 2016 collection. Too bad she opted out of the golden harness from the original look though, it’d really make her goddess look complete.
Megalyn Echikunwoke in white dress
Actress Megalyn Echikunwoke too went with a white creation with trendy cutouts and wispy short sleeves. The unusual dress’ sexy front slit showed off her golden strapped sandals and a manicure matching dramatic dark pedicure.
Maria Menounos in Christian Siriano
There were at least three Christian Siriano dresses on the Oscars red carpet. The designer was evidently busy with custom orders as well. Maria Menounos went for a metallic off-shoulder dress with a small train and a textured fabric.
Wendy Merry McCarthy in J. Mendel dress
Tom McCarthy’s wife Wendy Merry looked amazing in her silver grey J. Mendel gown with a textured top and lovely pleated skirt. She accessorized her look with some seriously bouncy waves, a faceted clutch, and David Yurman jewelry.
Olivia Munn in Stella McCartney
Monochromatic bright looks have become a sort of red carpet trend. This time Olivia Munn was its champion beaming in orange one-shoulder Stella McCartney dress complemented with an orange lip and cheek.
Brie Larson in Gucci
Gucci has taken red carpet by storm with its ruffles. This time it was Brie Larson wearing the brand’s wavy creation in royal blue. The V-neck spaghetti strap dress was completed with an embellished belt and a half up updo.
Naomi Watts in Armani Prive
Armani Prive haute couture dresses is another celeb choice for red carpet. Naomi Watts opted for a gorgeous strapless sequined gown in blue and magenta that looked as breathtaking as an early dawn.
Margot Robbie in Tom Ford
Margot Robbie stuns in anything. For the Oscars though she chose to shine in reptilian gold dress with a plunging neck from Tom Ford and accessorized with a cool black clutch with a dramatic tassel.
Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell
Choosing to support her designer stylist Brandon Maxwell for another night Lady Gaga stunned in a white jumpsuit with a gorgeous neck and dramatic train.
Chrissy Teigen in Marchesa
Chrissy Teigen went straight for the runway for her dress. Embellished dark red Marchesa creation suited the pregnant model although it looked a bit different from the one that appeared on the runway in New York originally.
Cate Blacnhett in Armani Prive
Cate Blanchett didn’t betray her style and affinity for a statement dress. Her mint Armani Prive design with fabric flowers looked amazing. As always her look was immaculately accessorized with statement jewels.
Dorith Mous in black dress
Model Dorith Mous went for the classic black but in a very unconventional goth kind of way. The corset lace top looks amazing and the full tulle skirt adds to the drama.
